Blue Monday!

Blue Monday has rolled around again!

My Blue Baby Shoes!

Some time back, my mom gave me a pair of my baby shoes. You can see me wearing them in the picture below. The shoes are made of blue felt. with little pink flowers embroidered on the toes. I would like to clean them up and display them with pink ribbon laces, but have no idea how to clean them without damaging them. Any ideas?

I have no idea how to clean those special baby shoes. I would suggest an expert--NOT your neighborhood dry cleaners. I've had them ruin stuff of mine.

Happy Blue Monday. The baby shoes are so very special. You certainly were a beautiful baby. I have no idea how to clean the shoes. I have a pair of satin slippers that were mine as a baby and I've left them as is. They have a vintage (or antique!) appearance. Thanks for sharing.

ahhhhhh this is a such a cute picture of you and you really did love thos little blue shoes. I don't know how to clean them either. I wonder if you could bring them to the drycleaners and check with them?? I don't know. YOu don't want to ruin them.
How pretty they would be displayed with new ribbon.
Thank you for sharing.

Hello Peggy, how precious you still have your baby shoes and a picture of you wearing them! You should put the picture and the shoes in glass case together.
Great post for Blue Monday.

Just recently found your blog through a friend of mine, Refabulous...anyway...I really enjoy reading here. I work with wool felt all the time. Are the shoes woolen? If so, take a gentle wool cleaner (woolite works) and put it in a sink full of water. Let it get real foamy. Then add the shoes. Let them sit in the water (lukewarm is best) and soak. After a while, gently use your finger to rub the parts that are dirtiest. I would not use anything rougher than a finger. Rinse in cold water, set them on towels to dry. They can be re-shaped now also, as wool stretches when wet. I would be very gentle handling them if you decide to try this. It should work and help some if it doesn't make them like new...
